AI Policy Radar

A pledge is not a law.

The Radar tracks which climate commitments have crossed into enforceable law: classified by legal stage, jurisdiction by jurisdiction, with every record checked against the document it cites.

Ask the Radar

Ask a question. Get a sourced answer.

Ask about any jurisdiction or instrument in the tracked set. Every answer is built from records that cite their source, never invented.

Try:

Answers list the Radar records that match your question, each with the source it was checked against. Not legal advice.

Self-test

When did the pledge become law?

Five instruments from the Radar, drawn at random. Guess the year each one started to bind, then see the answer with its source. A quick way to feel how long the road from announcement to statute really is.

Self-test

5 instruments. One slider.

5 instruments from the Radar, picked at random from 27 verified records. Slide to the year you think each one started to bind: 100 points for the exact year, 10 fewer for every year off.

  • About two minutes
  • Every answer cites its source

Method

Ambition is easy to announce. Law is hard to verify.

Pledges, targets and dashboards multiply, but few say, with a source, whether a commitment is enforceable law today. The Radar answers that question and shows how it knows.

Stage, not existence

Every instrument is placed on the path from tabled proposal to operating statute, so you can see whether it actually binds yet.

Sourced and dated

Each record links the document it was checked against and states when it was last verified. A record you can cite, and check.

Independent and deliberately small

No agenda and no padding: depth and defensibility over coverage. Records are added only when they can be sourced.

Legal stages

How each record is classified

  1. Proposed

    Announced or tabled

A bill, decree or plan has been tabled or announced, but no binding text has been adopted.

  2. In rulemaking

    Law exists, rules pending

The enabling law is adopted, but the regulations that create obligations are still being drafted, or a pilot phase is not yet binding.

  3. Enacted

    Adopted, not yet operating

The instrument is law, but its obligations start at a later date.

  4. In force

    Binding and operating

Covered entities are under legally binding obligations today.

Open data

Reuse it. Cite it. Embed it.

Every record is free to download as CSV or JSON under an open licence, with a key-free API, a feed of every change and a live map you can embed on your own site.

How to read this

The Radar is a deliberately small, open tracker. Every record is published with the source it was checked against and the date of that check. A record describes the legal position as shown by its source on that date; legislation moves, so always confirm against the primary text before relying on it.

Records are an educational summary. They are not legal advice and are not intended for compliance purposes. Boundaries and names on the map follow the public-domain Natural Earth basemap and do not imply endorsement or acceptance by Green Diplomat. Read our standards and methodology.
