Tax on Carbon Dioxide (Impuesto al Dióxido de Carbono)
Argentina's tax on carbon dioxide was introduced by the 2017 tax reform (Law No. 27,430) and has applied to fossil fuels since March 2018 alongside the tax on liquid fuels. The law keeps these fuel taxes in force until 31 December 2035.

Law No. 27,430, published in the Boletín Oficial on 29 December 2017, rewrote Title III of Law No. 23,966 as 'Taxes on liquid fuels and on carbon dioxide'. Article 10 establishes a single-stage tax on carbon dioxide throughout the national territory on the products listed in Article 11, which include fuel oil, mineral coal and petroleum coke among other fuels. Decree 501/2018 regulates Title III.
According to the Grantham Research Institute's Climate Change Laws of the World, the tax has been in effect since March 2018, at a rate the OECD reported at about USD 10 per tCO2e, with amounts updated annually by consumer price inflation. Greenhouse gas emissions from industrial processes, livestock, waste and land-use change are outside its scope, and biofuels are exempt. Article 145 of Law 27,430 keeps the taxes in Chapters I and II of Title III in force until 31 December 2035.
