Field dictionary
record_id- Stable identifier of the record (also the end of its web address).
instrument- Name of the law, system or tax the record describes.
jurisdiction- Country or sub-national jurisdiction that adopted the instrument.
iso3- ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code of the country.
country- Name of the country with that code. For a state or province, jurisdiction names the state and country names the country it belongs to.
instrument_type- Emissions trading system, carbon tax, framework law, target law, crediting mechanism, energy-transition law, disclosure / MRV rule.
legal_stage- In force · Enacted, not yet in force · In rulemaking · Proposed / announced · No binding instrument.
stage_date- Date the instrument reached its current stage (YYYY, YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD, as precise as the source allows).
legal_reference- Act, decree or gazette reference.
coverage- Sectors, entities or share of emissions covered, as stated by the source.
summary- Short description of the instrument, as shown on the Radar.
what_to_watch- Decisions, rules or reviews to watch that the source names without a date. Dated ones are in next_steps.
source_name- Publisher of the document the record was checked against.
source_url- Address of that document.
source_type- “official” (law, gazette, government or regulator) or “reference” (a recognised compilation such as ICAP).
btr_status- Indicative status for Biennial Transparency Reports: planned, adopted or implemented (see Standards).
last_verified- Date the record was last checked against its source.
region- Region group used by the Radar’s region filter and Regions view, such as Asia-Pacific.
topics- Topics the record is filed under. In CSV files they are separated by semicolons.
url- Address of the record’s page on this site.
next_steps- Next dated steps as the source gives them: date (YYYY, YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD), status (“scheduled”: a law, decree or official calendar sets the date; “expected”: planned, targeted or reported), event and source. A list in JSON; one cell in CSV, steps separated by semicolons. The same dates, except year-only ones, are in /radar-data/calendar.ics.
legal_journey- Dated milestones (proposed, enacted, rulemaking, in force, later milestone), each with its own source. “reversal” is true (“yes” in journeys.csv) for a step that reduced the instrument’s legal force or coverage. JSON and journeys.csv only.
Embed the Radar
Put the live Radar map on your own site or intranet. It updates by itself and links back to the full records.
<iframe src="https://greendiplomat.com/embed/radar/" title="AI Policy Radar — Green Diplomat" width="100%" height="560" style="border:0;max-width:100%" loading="lazy"></iframe>
To embed a single record, use its record_id:
<iframe id="gd-embed-rec-br-sbce" src="https://greendiplomat.com/embed/record/br-sbce/" title="AI Policy Radar record — Green Diplomat" width="100%" height="540" style="border:0;max-width:100%" loading="lazy"></iframe><script>window.addEventListener("message",function(e){var f=document.getElementById("gd-embed-rec-br-sbce");var h=e.data&&e.data.gdEmbedHeight;if(f&&e.source===f.contentWindow&&typeof h==="number"&&h>120&&h<5000)f.style.height=Math.ceil(h)+"px";});</script>
To embed one country’s instruments, use the name at the end of its country page address:
<iframe id="gd-embed-brazil" src="https://greendiplomat.com/embed/country/brazil/" title="AI Policy Radar: Brazil — Green Diplomat" width="100%" height="740" style="border:0;max-width:100%" loading="lazy"></iframe><script>window.addEventListener("message",function(e){var f=document.getElementById("gd-embed-brazil");var h=e.data&&e.data.gdEmbedHeight;if(f&&e.source===f.contentWindow&&typeof h==="number"&&h>120&&h<5000)f.style.height=Math.ceil(h)+"px";});</script>

Filter any download or feed
Add these parameters to records.csv, records.json, journeys.csv or the updates feed to get part of the Radar. They work like the filters on the Radar page. Different parameters must all match; a list of values matches any of them.
| Parameter | Values | Returns |
|---|---|---|
iso | Three-letter ISO 3166-1 codes, separated by commas: BRA or BRA,CAN | Records for those countries |
type | One of ets, tax, framework, target, crediting, energy, disclosure, other | Instruments of that type |
stage | in-force, enacted, rulemaking, proposed or none, separated by commas | Instruments at any of those legal stages |
region | One of africa, americas, asia-pacific, europe, middle-east-central-asia | Instruments in that region |
record | One or more record_id values, separated by commas | Those records only |
Examples: /radar-data/records.csv?iso=BRA,CAN downloads the records for Brazil and Canada, and /feed/radar-updates/?type=ets®ion=asia-pacific follows emissions trading systems in Asia-Pacific. A value the Radar does not recognise returns no records, never the whole file; the reason is in the note field of the JSON file, the X-GD-Note header of a CSV file or the description of the feed. On the Radar, “Download this view (CSV)” gives the file for what is on screen.
Good to know
The files are generated live from the Radar, so a download always matches what the site shows. Each record carries the date it was last checked against its source; check that date, and the source itself, before relying on a record.
Records are educational summaries of the legal position on the date of the check. They are not legal advice and are not intended for compliance purposes. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we will check it against the source.
Using the data in research, teaching or a product? We would like to hear about it, and to list notable uses here.
