Each value is the headline figure of that year’s edition (prices and coverage as of 1 April). Definitions changed between editions (some early editions counted scheduled instruments), so read the series as reported headlines rather than a strictly consistent time series.
About the data
How figures are chosen and shown
The Data Hub publishes figures from international organisations and research institutions that produce them as their core work: the World Bank, the UNFCCC secretariat, the IPCC, IRENA, the OECD, the WMO, the Global Carbon Project and the International Carbon Action Partnership.
Each dataset states its publisher, the edition it was taken from, its unit and a short method note. Where a figure is reported by a secondary source, the chart says so. Values are not modelled or estimated by Green Diplomat.
- Like with like. Series that change definition between editions are labelled as reported headlines, not as consistent time series.
- No dual axes. Different measures are shown in separate charts.
- Open by default. Every chart has a table view and a CSV download.
Figures remain the work of their publishers; please cite the original source alongside Green Diplomat. To suggest a dataset or report an error, write to us. See also our standards and methodology.
